Hello friends! Here are my predictions for this weekend's NFL Wildcard playoff games! Enjoy!
New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks
Well friends I'm not gonna lie this is the game that I am least looking forward to and here's why. First of all you have a 7-9 garbage team in the Seabags who back doored their way into the postseason by winning the NFC worst oops I mean West sorry! Thus leaving 2 much better and deserving teams in the NY Giants and Tampa Bay Bucs at home? Ridiculous! But none the less the Seabags are in and there's nothing I can do about that so with that enough of my whining and crying let's get to the game shall we? OK the Saints are defending Super Bowl champs with 1 of the best QB's in the game today in Drew Brees. Couple that with a fairly decent defense and a slew of WR's you can see why the Saints are 10 point favorites. However, the Saints don't have any RB's because their 2 best RB's Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas are both out due to injury so that may give the Seabags a chance. Speaking of the Seabags they will have their more playoff experienced QB Matt Hasselback starting over Charlie Whitehurst! Good move however let's face it the Seabags are loaded with unexperienced ham'n'eggers while the Saints are loaded with more seasoned veterans and a much better team! So who wins? The Saints that's who and oh by the way I like them big in what I call the Zonk game of the week cue the Zonk effects from Let's Make A Deal! (Insert Let's Make A Deal Zonk sounds here)
Winners: New Orleans Saints
New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts
Now to the game that I personally will be looking the most forward to a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game! At the start of the season a big time hullabaloo was made over how great the Jets were mainly for all of their offseason acquisitions such as LaDainian Tomlinson, Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, and Jason Taylor and at the start of the season the Jets looked like the team to beat in the AFC. That is until a Monday night disaster in Foxboro against the Patriots in which the Jets got beat down by the Pats 45-3 in what was at the time the most anticipated game of the 2010 NFL season uh yeah so much for that but anyways and after that beatdown the Jets never really recovered although they did pick up a huge season saving road win in snowy Pittsburgh in Week 15 and a meaningless beatdown of the Buffalo Bills in the season finale but other than that they have not been the same! As for Indy well this season Peyton and his boys didn't have it as easy as they usually do! Case and point - injuries to key players was their main issue this year but despite that Indy still managed to win the AFC South title with an un Colt like 10-6 record and the #3 seed in the AFC! So who wins this primetime clash? Well you can really make an argument for both but for me I have to go with Peyton and the boys because of 1 very crucial stat and that is Peyton Manning is 5-1 against Rex Ryan coached teams including last year's AFC title game! All I know is that this game is going to be epic and I also have a feeling that this game will live up to the hype and then some and quite frankly I can't wait!
Winners: Indianapolis Colts
Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs
The other half of the AFC wildcard playoff doubleheader pits a proven Playoff tested team in the Baltimore Ravens against the inexperienced and surprise winners of the AFC West and not to mention my partner in crime Mike Flecha's houseteam the Kansas City Chiefs! Well just like the Saints-Seahawks game there is no doubt that the Baltimore Ravens will go into Arrowhead and not only manhandle the Chiefs with their punishing defense but will also silence the NFL's loudest stadium because the Chiefs haven't won a home playoff game since 1994 and do you really think this inexperienced Chiefs team can hang with the Ravens? I don't! A punishing D, a very efficient QB in Joe Flacco, and too many weapons on offense will lead to an easy and decisive victory for the Ravens in this 1! Sorry Mikey guess you'll have to find a new houseteam to cheer on next year! Wapah!!!
Winners: Baltimore Ravens
Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles
And finally the main event of Wildcard weekend and a game that many of my Facebook friends are looking forward to more than anything! A rematch of Week 1 which was a 27-20 victory for the Packers! Over the last 2 weeks no team has looked more impressive in my eyes than the Green Bay Packers while no team has looked more terrible than the Philadelphia Eagles especially on that Tuesday night game when they let a garbage Minnesota Viking team come in and humiliate them in their house! So with that I really like the Packers in this 1 for 2 reasons 1. QB Aaron Rodgers has been on top of his game since coming back from that concussion that he suffered against Detroit and 2. The Packers just like the Baltimore Ravens have 1 of the most punishing defenses in the NFL led by Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson! Yes the Eagles have a rejuvenated Michael Vick leading the way on offense along with their dynamic playmaker DeSean Jackson who wowed us all with that 65 yard walkoff punt return TD to beat the NY Giants back in Week 15 in a game that I truly consider the best game of this regular season bar none! But I truly feel because of how great Aaron Rodgers and the defense has looked I just feel that Green Bay will steal 1 here because I think Philly has lost a little mojo ever since that incredible comeback against the Giants! So with that I like the Packers in this 1 even though I think that this game much like the Jets-Colts game will live up to the hype and then some!
Winners: Green Bay Packers
