Hello friends! Tonight we conclude our 2 part MLB Playoff Preview with the 2 National League Division Series that start tomorrow afternoon! So let's get down to business shall we?
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Boy who had this as a postseason matchup in April? Not me that's for sure but none the less here it is! Arizona won the N.L. West from the now former World Series Champion San Francisco Giants with a record of 94-68 while the Brewers set a franchise record with 96 wins including an MLB best 57-24 home record which will make them tough to beat in this postseason! In terms of offense I give the edge to the Brew Crew because of their 2 headed monster of Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun while the starting pitching is even as both teams have solid staffs led by NL Cy Young candidate Ian Kennedy, Joe Saunders, and Daniel Hudson for the D-Backs while the Brewers counter with offseason pickup Zack Grienke, Yovany Gallardo, and Randy Wolf. In terms of bullpen I give the slight edge to Milwaukee because they have Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez in addition to closer John Aford who recorded 43 saves going against Arizona's closer J.J. Putz who recorded 45 saves this season. So who wins this series? Well even though Arizona won the season series 4-3 I like Milwaukee to win this series in 4 games as I expect them to win both games at Miller Park and steal 1 in Zona to win their 1st postseason series since winning the A.L. Pennant back in 1982!
Winners: Milwaukee Brewers 3 games to 1
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Just like their counterparts in the American League the Tampa Bay Rays the Cardinals completed a remarkable comeback of their own by overcoming an 8 1/2 game deficit against the Atlanta Braves to capture the N.L. Wild Card while the Phillies posted a franchise record 102 wins and are in my opinion the team to beat in this postseason! In terms of offense yes the Cards have perhaps the best player in the game today in Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday who's starting to look like the guy who was singlehandidly responsible for the Colorado Rockies magical run back in 2007, and Lance Berkman who looked like his oldself from his days with the Houston Astros! But the Phillies have Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, Raul Ibanez, and Shane Victorino and for that I have to give the offensive edge to Philly! In terms of pitching this 1 is not even close as Philly once again has the clear cut advantage with the greatest starting rotation since the Atlanta Braves of the 90's with Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels, Roy Oswalt, and a relative new comer who has taken MLB by storm in Vance Worley need I say more? Yeah the Cards have Chris Carpenter and Kyle Lohse but after them who else do they really have? In terms of bullpens once again the edge goes to Philly who have Ryan Madson and Brad Lidge leading the way! So who wins? Even though St. Louis won the season series 6-3 I have to go with the Phillies to win this series in 4 games as I expect them to do the same thing Milwaukee will do against Arizona win the first 2 games at home and then steal a game in St. Louis to reach the NLCS for the 4th consecutive year!
Winners: Philadelphia Phillies 3 games to 1

2011 MLB Playoff Preview Part 1 (American League Division Series)
Hello friends! Tomorrow marks the start of the 2011 MLB Playoffs as the 2 American League Division Series take center stage while the 2 National League Division Series begin on Saturday afternoon and I will preview those series tomorrow night but for right now let's talk American League Division Series shall we?
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers
A rematch of last year's Division Series in which Texas won in 5 games in a series which the road team won all 5 games! 4 weeks ago the Rays were all but out of the A.L. Wildcard as they were trailing the Boston Red Sox by 9 games as of 9/3/11. But then the unthinkable happened the Sox choked marking their biggest collapse since they blew a 14 game Division lead over their hated rivals the New York Yankees in 1978. Meanwhile the Rangers set a franchise record with 96 wins and will have the homefield this time around. Offensively both teams have big bats - BJ Upton, Evan Longoria, Matt Joyce, and Ben Zobrist lead Tampa's offense against the Rangers big bats of Josh Hamilton, Adrian Beltre, Ian Kinsler, Nelson Cruz, Mike Napoli, and Michael Young so in terms of offense advantage Rangers! Pitching wise the Rays have James "Big Game" Shields and Mark Hellickson while the Rangers counter with CJ Wilson, Derek Holland, and Colby Lewis just to name a few so I'll give a slight edge to the Rangers here. Overall I expect this to be another hard fought series just like last year's series was! Kudos to Tampa for making that huge comeback to win the Wild Card but at the end of the day I have to go with the defending A.L. Champs to win this series in 3 maybe 4 games tops.
Winners: Texas Rangers (3 games to 1)
Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees
Now while I look forward to the Tampa/Texas series I am honestly looking more forward to this series not because I'm a diehard Yankee fan but because of the starpower that will be on display in this series. In terms of offense Detroit will have their big bats Miguel Cabrera, Magglio Ordonez, and Brandon Inge while the Yanks will be led by their big 3 of Mark Teixeira, former Tiger Curtis Granderson, and Home Run Derby Champ Robinson Cano and oh yeah they still have some guys named Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter who I heard were pretty good so in terms of offense clear cut advantage to the Yanks! Now pitching on the other hand is going to be a little tougher because Detroit will have their ace and future A.L. Cy Young winner Justin Verlander on tap for games 1 and 5 (if necessary) along with Max Scherzer and trade deadline pickup Doug Fister while the Yanks counter with C.C. Sabathia, Ivan Nova, and Freddie Garcia. Now you can really make the argument that the pitching is even but because of how dominant Verlander has been this year I honestly have to give the slight edge to Detroit. In terms of bullpen wow is this going to be a heck of a matchup as both teams possess 2 of the best closers in the game today - Jose Valverde of Detroit who has converted 51 straight saves vs. the greatest closer of all time and new all time saves leader Mariano Rivera. If the Yanks are going to win this series they need to get to Verlander at least once and if they do then I like their chances but if Verlander continues his Cy Young run then this series will end just like it did back when these 2 met back in the 2006 ALDS with Detroit on top. Should be a great great series but at the end of the day I have to go with my gut and go with the Yanks to win this series in at least 4 maybe 5 games because of their big 3 bats, solid starting pitching, and they have the greatest closer of all time!
Winners: New York Yankees (3 games to 1)

WWE Night Of Champions 2011 Predictions
Hello friends! Tomorrow night WWE will present their 5th annual Night Of Champions PPV live from the HSBC arena in Buffalo, New York! 7 matches are on the card and now without further adu it's on to my picks! Here we go!
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Air Boom (Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston) vs. The Miz and R-Truth
For the 1st time in a long time WWE's Tag Team Division is showing signs of life after being dead for the longest time. However they still have a ways to go before that division will be as fun as it was back in the late 80's through the early 2000's. As for my pick well my gut is telling me to go with the champs to retain but my heart tells me to go with Miz and Truth to win the belts. Very tough to call indeed as this 1 could easily go either way! But in the end I'm going to take a chance here and say that the champs find a way to retain in what should be a solid opener!
Winners: Air Boom
Fatal 4 Way Match for the WWE United States Championship: Dolph Ziggler vs. Jack Swagger vs. Alex Riley vs. John Morrison
Of all the matches on this card this fight has had the worst and most underwhelming build mainly because of the angle with Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger involving Vickie Guerrero while Riley and Morrison were added for flavor content. Anyways I'm going to take a chance here and go with Swagger to pull the upset here and win the U.S. belt after Vickie helps Swagger and screws over Dolph.
Winner: Jack Swagger
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Cody Rhodes vs. Ted Dibiase
Not much build for this 1 as this fight was just announced this past Friday. Should be an OK match at best and I like Cody to retain.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
WWE Divas Championship Match: Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix
No doubt the easiest fight to call as the Glamazon will get her long overdue moment in the sun that many feel she should've gotten at SummerSlam last month but remember when I did my SummerSlam review on my Tony Rants blogsite I had stated that the only reason Kelly even retained was because of the fact that this event is in the Glamazon's hometown of Buffalo and because of that the Glamazon wins this 1 going away!
Winner: Beth Phoenix
No Disqualification Match: CM Punk vs. Triple H
OK go figure the name of this event is Night Of Champions and yet it's this fight which is a non title match that's getting the most hype and build and for good reason as this has fight of the night written all over it in my opinion as this has been the best storyline in WWE right now! I mean you have Punk who is by far the best thing going in WWE today mainly because of his money promos and money matches. On the other side of the coin you have Triple H the COO of WWE who is competing in his 1st match since the epic 5 star battle he had with Taker back at WrestleMania 27! So many things to consider in picking this match. 1. Punk wins Hunter resigns as COO. 2. Kevin Nash's recent "firing" 3. John Laureanitis and 4. Stephanie McMahon. So many scenarios to consider which makes this even harder to call. Part of me wants to see Punk win to create an exciting who will be the new COO angle but in all honesty I think Hunter will win this fight I mean do you really see Hunter losing back to back PPV matches? I don't!
Winner: Triple H
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry
There is no question that the work Mark Henry has performed over the last few months has been his personal best and for that he deserves a run with the WHC! However Henry has been getting the best of Orton on Smackdown and the recent Raw Supershows as of late. Because of that this looks like a classic case of Booking 101 and if we all remember how Booking 101 works Orton should and will win this match to retain the title in what should be a sleeper pick for fight of the night!
Winner: Randy Orton
WWE Championship Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena
Last month at SummerSlam Alberto Del Rio continued the trend of successful MITB cash ins when he cashed his MITB briefcase on CM Punk to capture the WWE title! The next week no big surprise as Super Cena finds his way back into the title picture! Most likely will be the usual ho hum Raw TV main event in which Del Rio will cheat his way to victory most likely setting up a rematch next month at the Hell In A Cell PPV!
Winner: Alberto Del Rio
Overall it looks like a good but not great PPV which is a shame after WWE had produced 2 of their best PPV's in recent memory in SummerSlam and Money In The Bank! Anyways Punk and Hunter will most likely steal the show while the Tag Team, World Heavyweight, and WWE Championship Matches should be solid fights! While sadly the Divas, IC, and U.S. title fights will be the worst fights of the night I'm afraid.
Well those are my picks for Night Of Champions thanks so much for reading along and be sure to join me on my Tony Rants blogsite tomorrow night as I will have a complete recap of Night Of Champions and also be sure to join my longtime friend and colleague Derek Ferreira on his YouTube channel (slb200809) as he will have a complete video recap of Night Of Champions and also be sure to join me back here on this blogsite in 2 weeks as I will preview the 3rd annual WWE Hell In A Cell PPV! So until then you know the routine everybody. Thumbs up talk to you later! YEAH!!! Bye for now!

TNA No Surrender 2011 Predictions
Hello friends! Tomorrow night TNA presents their 7th annual No Surrender PPV live from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida! 8 matches are on the card so now without further adu let's get to the picks shall we?
#1 Contenders Match for the TNA X- Division Championship: Kid Kash vs. Jesse Sorenson
These 2 have had some good matches on Impact Wrestling and I expect this 1 to be just as good as those other fights. Going with the upset here as I think Jesse Sorrenson will win this match and challenge for the X belt next month at Bound For Glory.
Winner: Jesse Sorenson
Samoa Joe vs. Matt Morgan
Could be a good match but I'm not sure given the volatile nature of this feud. I'm going to go on the record here and say that this fight will end in a no contest after it gets way out of hand at somepoint and because of the no contest finish I expect these 2 to throw down in the Bound For Glory tradition Monster's Ball unless they have something else in store for that particular match.
Winner: No Contest
TNA World Tag Team Championship Match: Mexican America vs. Devon and D'Angelo Dinero
No question about it friends this is going to be the worst fight of the night and in all honesty I'm really not looking forward to this match at all because both of these teams are real snoozers but since I have to pick a winner here I will go with the champs to retain thanks to what I will call RoSaritaference if you know what I mean.
Winners: Mexican America
TNA Women's Knockout Championship Match: Mickie James vs. Winter
On the September 1st edition of Impact Wrestling in Huntsville, Alabama Mickie James regained the Knockouts title from Winter after Winter took the belt off of Mickie at last month's Hardcore Justice PPV. Basically the belt is in a hot potato mode right now and could easily switch back again. But I don't see that happening as I see Mickie retaining in what I think will be the 2nd or 3rd worst fight of the night pending how the Joe/Morgan fight pans out.
Winner: Mickie James
TNA X-Division Championship Match: Brian Kendrick vs. Austin Aries
OK let me just get this off my chest before I make my pick and that is is it just me or is Austin Aries TNA's version of CM Punk? Because this guy reminds me so much of him I'm just saying! Anyways this fight has potential to be a candidate for fight of the night because both of these guys can go! Kendrick has a nice little 2 month run with the belt after winning it in July at the Destination X PPV from Abyss. While Aries won a gauntlet style contenders match recently on Impact Wrestling to earn the right to face Kendrick. Personally I would love to see Aries win the belt here because I think he is 1 of the few good things going in TNA Wrestling right now even though there really isn't that much good in TNA now a days but anyways. So with that I'm going with Aries to win the belt here and then defend it next month at Bound For Glory against Jesse Sorenson in what could be a fairly decent fight.
Winner: Austin Aries
Bound For Glory Series Semi-Final Match: James Storm vs. Bully Ray
Again want to get a little something off my chest real quick and that is thank god this BFG series is over because none of those fights were really any good and in all honesty the house show fights were 10 times more entertaining than the TV fights let's not kid ourselves. OK on to my pick for this fight. I like Bully Ray to win thanks to some Immortalference if you will or by some type of nefarious means.
Winner: Bully Ray
Bound For Glory Series Semi-Final Match: Bobby Roode vs. Gunner
Honestly I think this will be the better of the 2 BFG Series matches here as Roode is a great worker while Gunner has impressed over the last several months and could be a future breakout star if booked correctly. As for my pick well I like Bobby Roode to win this match perhaps with some Fortuneference to keep the neverending Fortune/Immortal feud going but I think Roode goes over clean and I would really love to see him battle for the big belt in the main event at BFG because let's face it no one deserves that spot and push more than him as he really is 1 of the best workers in TNA today!
Winner: Bobby Roode
3-Way Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Kurt Angle vs. Sting vs. Mr. Anderson
If TNA actually gets this 1 right they will put Kurt Angle over and let him retain the belt and then have Bobby Roode win the BFG Series. They do that and then ba da boom you not only have the potential for 1 of the best main events in recent memory and a bonafide candidate for TNA Match of the Year just saying. Now onto the pick. Now even though Kurt Angle was recently arrested for DUI he still is 1 of the biggest stars in TNA if not the biggest. However the only wrestler who's just as over is Sting but I think he will be facing Hulk Hogan next month at Bound For Glory so that cancels him out. Now a thought just entered into my head concering another potential BFG main event. What if Anderson wins the belt which could happpen and what if Bully Ray wins the BFG series which could happen also? Personally I kinda don't want to see that fight go down but sadly I have a sinking feeling that TNA could go down that route mainly because of the recent feud between those 2. So Angle or Anderson? Wow that's tough to call! My gut is saying Anderson but my heart is saying Angle mainly because I want to see him and Roode battle it out for the belt in the main event at Bound For Glory next month. You know what? I'm a risk taker now I know I'm probably going to get burned on this but I'm going for it Angle retains and Bobby Roode wins the BFG series setting up a potential 5 star battle at BFG next month. Please TNA make that fight happen! PLEASE!!!
Winner: Kurt Angle
Overall it looks the typical ho hum TNA PPV but to be quite honest TNA could really use a strong PPV outing to give them a little momentum going into their version of WrestleMania in Bound For Glory. But sadly this PPV will probably pan out to a 5 or a 6 out of 10 at best.
OK those are my picks for No Surrender! Thanks so much for reading along and be sure to check out my Tony Rants blogsite as I will try to have a complete recap of this event but I can't guarantee it right now. Also be sure to check out my longtime friend and colleague Derek Ferreira's YouTube channel (slb200809) tomorrow night as he will have a complete video recap of this event and be sure to join me right back here on this blogsite next Saturday as I will preview WWE Night of Champions so until then you know the routine everybody. Thumbs up talk to you later! YEAH!!! Bye for now!

Thumbs up talk to you later! YEAH!!! Bye for now!
